I pen this with a heart that is broken, but on the mend. I feel truly blessed when I have the opportunity to care for a senior pet in my clientele. Their families love them enough to entrust their golden years to compassionate caregivers like me and my colleagues, who dedicate ourselves to ensuring these cherished pets experience love and comfort in their remaining time with us. Losing such special pets hurts our hearts deeply, as we spend day after day nurturing, appreciating, and caring for them.

Almost two weeks ago, a dear client of mine passed away at the age of 12. She was the brightest dog I've ever had the pleasure of working with, always keeping me on my toes both mentally and physically. While I am immensely grateful to have had her in my life for a year, her loss fills me with profound sadness and a sense of unfairness that our time together was so brief. However, I feel honored that her family chose me from among many pet care providers to offer her the care and attention she deserved.

Pets come with their humans, who love them just as much as we, their pet sitters, do. Pet care is not only about playing with pets, walking dogs, and cleaning cats' litter boxes; it's also about nurturing relationships with the humans who entrust us with their beloved companions.

When selecting a pet care provider, ask yourself these essential questions: Are they the person you want accompanying you and your pet on life's journey? Are they the right person to guide you and your pets through challenges? Will they treat your pets like family, understanding their unique needs and providing the respect, love, and dignity they deserve? Lastly, will they grieve and remember the loss of your pets with you when it's time to say farewell?
